It was unknown to Miss Lan whether it was her father’s contrasting resolute face and saddened eyes, or that Wu Ji, the son of her benefactor was wavering between life and death. But whatever it was, caused something in her mind to crack. Wasn’t cultivating an action against the heavens? To break through their mortal shackles with each step and finally achieve power, freedom, and eternal life? She laughingly looked down at her hands. What kind of powerhouse was she supposed to be if she couldn’t even save a tiny mortal!
“Essence!”
She jumped on top of Wu Ji, her finger pierced his burned chest and perforated his heart. When her actions were done. She looked at her hands, trembling. She felt it…
“Did I just...” She didn’t get to finish her words before the heavens trembled and an Essence character appeared on her forefront.
They all stared at her, then Wu Ji. If Wu Ji had never came to the tournament, then these 4-Stars talent would not have been born today!
The City Lord couldn’t help but think that Wu Ji was a lucky charm.
“He’s fine. My last ability allowed me to share my life essence with him and it stabilized his lifeline. He won’t die, though it might take some time for him to wake up.” Miss Lan spoke with confidence, taking Wu Ji’s mother hand and briefly smiling to her.
“Thank you, Miss Lan!” Wu Ji’s mother finally let loose some tears of joy. Finally, her son was out of danger. Sure, he was half crippled, but as her mother, she didn’t care a bit as long as he got to live. That’s what a mother love was like.
“We’ll leave you alone with your son. My daughter and Mo Wen need some time to discuss.” Said the City Lord with serious tone gazing at those two new-borns 4-Stars talent. He couldn’t be happier. The two were a couple! Husband and Wife.
It was unsure as to if Wu Ji would have perished or not without Miss Lan’s skilful help, but one thing was sure. Wu Ji’s subconscious had been perpetually struggling to reach that tiny ball. When Miss Lan’s Essence Skill had pierced Wu Ji’s heart, a drop of blood and pierced his subconscious—and helped Wu Ji finally reach that tiny ball.
The ball was absorbed into his soul, and immediately released a huge image of an old man, which started to laugh in a terrifying fashion.
“Hahaha! Finally! After a billion years I have finally found an inheritor!” The old man really couldn’t stop laughing.
Wu Ji kept staring at this old man. “Is he crazy?” he thought.
“You don’t know, young man, you don’t know. I was a God, a Myriad Star God! I have already fallen, what you see in front of you is the last strand of my soul that has waited, waited for a body that can complete this old man’s dream.” After laughing for a few more minutes he finally stopped laughing and turned serious.
The silence was exasperating. What is this old man saying…?
“Young man, listen well. In the Myriad Stars, there are two taboos, two powers that stand at the bottom and at the top at the same time. Two powers that outshine everything. Swallow and Chaos!” said the old man. He paused, creating yet again another silence, except this time Wu Ji’s heart was beating non-stop.
“In the past, this old man was the Swallow God, feared by all. Unfortunately, my realm was not on par to my arrogance and I fell due to some...unfortunate events. But this grandfather, before falling touched the other taboo, Chaos! There has never been a Chaos God, since the primal times. It was said that Chaos was the origin of all and Swallow the end of everything.” The man laughed a lot before taking a breath and continuing with what was saying. As for Wu Ji, he just stood there watching and listening to the old man.
“I have forcibly fused those two stars. Waiting for someone who would be rejected by every star, for someone to be able to link to this star. I’m afraid that after doing so, I have cut down the path for Chaos and Swallow cultivators. Fortunately, you were born, otherwise this old man would’ve had to wait even longer for someone to appear... Sadly, this kind of power, when fused is too strong and only a god would be able to comprehend even a modicum of it. That’s how you ended being unable to cultivate at all. Even I have barely scratched the surface… but fear not, young man! This old man has travelled through countless realms, through countless universe too many places to remember. And this old man got a few crazy ideas in a place called Earth.”
The old man in front of Wu Ji really liked to laugh.
“When I disappear, something will activate in your mind that contains all the knowledge I have, and should theoretically help you cultivate. As for exactly how it will work… well, I’ll leave it to you to figure things out. I haven’t been able to test my creation, exactly… so good luck, inheritor!”
The old man disappeared laughing the same way it appeared. Wu Ji face had an ugly face.
“What inheritor, what Chaos or Swallow! Six fucking years! Six fucking years!!!” His face grew fiercer. “If you didn’t fuck things up. I could have cultivated normally. Now, what the hell! You made me inherit a piece of shit you made that you aren’t even sure if it will work. What a freaking god, you are a trickster.” Wu Ji vented all the feelings from all these past years. He felt wronged, wronged now that he knew that it was someone else’s fault he’d been unable to cultivate.
What Wu Ji didn’t know was that this Swallow God was the only reason he could cultivate. Actually, he’d done Wu Ji a huge favour. He originally had a mortal chaos body, but something that should have been essentially impossible to exist had happened.
Chaos cultivated any energy, any properties. But, the pressure of that energy required a body strong enough to support it. Normally, it would have been impossible for Wu Ji to cultivate—his body would collapse as soon as he did. But thanks to the System and Wu Ji’s swallowing powers it was made possible.
The Chaos Myriad Star was a Primal Star, and the star was so ancient that there were no longer any cultivators using it.
This was because its requirements were extremely hard to fulfil, even so that descendants of Gods had given up on it. And as a Star ages, if it is not connected to cultivators, it slowly loses power, and “falls”. Luckily for Wu Ji, this had made it possible for the God to control the Swallow Myriad Star and have the “crazy” idea to fuse the Primal Star with the one he controlled. This was something that nobody, not even a God should have been able to do. The result was that the Swallow power and Chaos power were now both unavailable for cultivators to use—instead, a new power had been created, and accessible in a new Star—the one Wu Ji had connected with. As it was a new, synthetically created star, it didn’t belong to the Star.
Hence why Wu Ji was a 0-star talent.
Ding!

Wu Ji was stupefied. Did it work? I didn’t die? That crazy old God’s idea actually worked? Wu Ji was so excited that his body trembled. He could finally cultivate! Sure, it wasn’t “normal” cultivation, he had to rely on this weird thing fused with his soul, but oh well. He could finally strive to fulfil; his dreams. The only apparent downside is that he couldn’t understand any of the menu information that had appeared in his head. It was at this moment that this...thing, showed a new notification.
Ding!
Detected new source of energy. Wish to Swallow or Cultivate?
Wu Ji was truly puzzled. What was the difference between the two options? How he was supposed to select a choice? He was a little afraid. What if he messed up? Would he no longer be able to cultivate?
Ding!
Chaotic Swallowing: Thanks to chaotic rules, the host is able to swallow and digest anything. Chaotic Swallowing will convert whatever is swallowed into Energy, used to Cultivate. Thanks to chaotic rules, the swallowed can be dissolved and used to cultivate the host’s chaotic body.
Choosing Cultivate will cultivate the chaotic body. Choosing Swallow will digest the chosen object and convert it to Energy.
The host is suggested to choose cultivate. It will allow the host to enter the world of cultivation, allowing for more hope of survival. The host has countless enemies.
“Countless enemies? Where did they come from? I haven’t offended anyone yet.”
All the Myriad Stars Gods are enemies.
Wu Ji stood there a long time speechless, before letting loose again another wave of curses directed to his supposed master, who’d paved a path filled with enemies for him.
After a long time, Wu Ji finally calmed down and chose.
“Swallow”. It was said inside his mind, with a firm voice filled with determination.
Ding!
Swallowed Blood Essence. Energy value increases by 500.
Automatically Cultivated Primal Law. Rank Increased.
Rank: Mortal Realm, 1st (0/1,000).
Battle Power: 200.
One week had passed since the incident with Wu Ji.
Mo Wen and Miss Lan had been officially engaged. Miss Lan didn’t particularly care about Mo Wen’s face looking like Wu Ji. After the incident where both of them had become 4-Star talents, she had opened her eyes and found a new path ahead. She was sure that in a few years, she would be able to restore Mo Wen’s state. Besides, who would have known that Miss Lan had fell deeply in love with Mo Wen a few years ago. They truly were a heavenly matched couple, though when they walked together, they looked a bit odd. Mo Wen wore a silver mask and Miss Lan a veil.
Miss Lan’s actual name was Xiao Lan.
Mo Wen stood next to Wu Ji for three days and three nights before leaving a mask for Wu Ji, and a token. He explained to Wu Ji’s mother tha
t if the token was crushed, Mo Wen would immediately teleport to Wu Ji’s location. This was something the Sect Master had prepared specially for Wu Ji as thanks, and as an apology for what happened between Mo Wen and Wu Ji.
On this day, Wu Ji finally opened his eyes, stretched his arms and yawned carelessly as he always had. He wasn’t a retard, the Waste System he now had had clearly explained his injuries to him, but what were these injuries compared to being able to finally cultivate?
“Good morning Mom!” said Wu Ji with a big grin on his face.
Wu Ji’s mother shuddered, and tears ran through her still young beautiful face she was only 35 years old this year. She was at the 5th Rank Mortal Realm, and could very well live to 125 years. She turned and saw her son, but what greeted her made her heart thump wildly with joy. Not only had her son finally woken up, but the big stupid grin on his face was the very same one she had seen on her husband’s face when he’d started cultivating.
Both mother and son hugged each other for some time. It was as if they were talking through their hearts. Finally, Wu Ji’s mother broke the silence.
“I knew it, this day would come! You are finally able to cultivate.” She took out a ring and passed it to Wu Ji’s hands. “This is what your father has prepared for you. He knew that one day his son would be extraordinary.”
Wu Ji receives the ring but didn’t immediately pay attention to it. The so-called Waste System surprisingly was sensitive enough and didn’t give any kind of notification at all. Mother and Son, sat at a modest table, chatting about the times when Wu Ji’s father was alive. She also told Wu Ji everything that had happened when he was in coma. After a long chat, Wu Ji’s mother had to run some errands and Wu Ji remained alone in the room.
Ding!
Obtained Low Space Ring. Whether to Swallow, Cultivate, Open or Fuse?
“I can also Swallow it? What about the inside stuff…”
Anything can be swallowed.
“I understand the Open option but why give me Fuse?”
Fusing the Space Ring into your soul will allow the System to open and link the Space Dimension the predecessor created for you. It will allow the host to store things. It is more convenient than wearing a low space ring that can be stolen. Fusing will not destroy the things inside the ring.
“Okay then. Fuse it.”
Fusion Complete. Inventory function unlocked.
“Uh?! Are there more functions to be unlocked?” asked Wu Ji, amazed.
Yes. The Waste System has several means that were designed by the predecessor. Unfortunately, the processor couldn’t imagine that his creation would work since it was created in a rush and his energy was expended. So, some functions will be unlocked with time or triggered during your life.
“Damn old man. Even the system is aware of how it was badly created.”
Let’s see what this “inventory” is about. The inventory was displayed in his mind, displaying all the items stored in it. With just a thought, any item could appear in his hand, and just as instantly disappear again. After the amazement was gone, Wu Ji’s started to wonder want kind of cultivator was his father. He knew his father was strong but enough to possess a low space ring? Wu Ji’s wasn’t an idiot and only some people related to the Royal Family or Middle Empires it was too rare to be common.
Inside the inventory, there were only three items. A translucent pearl, a letter, and a feather. He clearly had no idea what any of the items were for, except for the letter.
Ding!
Obtained Heavenly Pearl, Wu Ji’s father’s letter, Phoenix feather.
“You can even identify items?” The system was really quite useful, huh.
It’s taking some time to analyse the predecessor’s knowledge, since a God’s capacity for knowledge is really too big. The System is not operating at full capabilities. Also, make note that the host is in a lowly place. It would be quite normal for the System to be unable to identify something. It's recommended for the host to help the System increase its knowledge by accessing places with information.
“That old god again!” fumed Wu Ji. He felt happy that his system was so competent, but also felt annoyed at the predecessor for its shortcomings.
With just a thought, his father’s letter appeared in his hand. His hands trembled a little as he held the letter. He was afraid of the contents. Would his father blame him? Perhaps he was disgraced to have a son like him. After pondering for some time Wu Ji finally shook his head. His father was not like the rest of the world—his father was special and knew it. He’d never behaved like the rest of the world expected.
“Wu Ji. If you are reading this, then your father died in a magnificent manner—it’s just how things turned out. Don’t dare cry in front of this old man or I will rise from the dead and smack you.” Wu Ji’s laughter resounded throughout the room his face was full of tears, yes, this was his father!
“Perhaps you will come across on how I died or perhaps not, don’t bother too much with it. Your father sacrificed his life for something he believed in. At that time war had begun against the Monster beasts. You know my personality when it comes to battle—ruthless and bloody. I’d killed endless amounts of Monster beasts, then.
During that war, I made a lot of good friends, even became a blood brother with some mighty cultivators. Your father is cool, eh?! Well, I don’t have much time left. The war ended up in a stalemate, but sadly will explode again by the time you are 18 or so. Your father left you an amazing present, he he, a space ring and a phoenix feather. The phoenix feather is a promise between me and a blood brother I acquired during the war. Seeing how might I was, he was willing to engage his daughter with my dragon of a son! What do you have to say, son! Your father got you a precious girl. The feather is the promise—if you decide to marry that girl she will wait until she's 21 years old. If you don’t appear in front of her by that time, she will not marry you. If you destroy the feather, she will also know that you’ve rejected her.
Right, I almost forgot. She’s the direct descendant of the Blood Phoenix sect, they should be from a high-level empire. I’m not sure exactly where. Farewell, my son!”
The moment Wu Ji ended reading the letter he coughed blood. Yes, this was his father, his goddamn! What the hell had he done? After bad-mouthing his late father for a little bit Wu Ji finally calmed down. How could he not know his father personality… a comedian and a troublemaker. Wu Ji finally sighed.
“Father didn’t know the result of the awakening ceremony after all. It would be better to destroy the feather. I will just swallow it.”
Wu Ji loved women, but he wasn’t stupid. A high empire? A direct descendant of the Blood Phoenix sect? Those things would just bring him more and more problems.
Ding!
Swallowing the feather will result in the body exploding.
“Eh? Didn’t you say that everything could be swallowed?” Wu Ji was confused.
And everything can be swallowed. The problem lays in in that the host’s body is too weak to allocate that much energy.
“So, you mean the influx of energy digesting this is beyond my handling capabilities?”
Correct.
“Hm. There is no other way?”
Opening the Swallow Dimension. The items devoured there and the resulting energies won’t affect the host body. The System, for now, is unable to calculate when such a thing would be possible. Improving host cultivation with help on the process.
“Well, more stuff. I guess sooner or later everything will get back to normal at some point. Yeah. I think. Right, I almost forgot about the pearl.”
When Wu Ji’s mind focused on the pearl a new notification appeared.
Heavenly Pearl: Created by a crazy god for his inheritor, who sacrificed several Godly being to obtains heavenly abilities. A chance to win a heavenly attribute on consuming.
“Oh god… don’t tell me that crazy old man made this pearl for me.”
Correct.
“Will it be safe to consume it?” As Wu Ji’s hands received the pearl from the inventory they were trembling like never before. Sure, its description was amazing, but it was that crazy old god who had created the pearl. Who knew what the hell could happen?!
